Shungite

Shungite is a rare black stone found in Shunga, a village in Karelia, Russia thought to be at least 2 billion years old. This stone consists of almost all the minerals on the periodic table and has a very unique composition. It contains fullerines which are 3-D sperical molecules made of 60 carbon atoms. These are called buckyballs.

Shungite is graded in terms of carbon content

Type 1 - Elite Shungite 98% Carbon

Type 2 - Shungite (black shungite) 50-70% Carbon

Type 3 - Shungite (grey or shungite rock) up to 50% Carbon
